Elliott joined the “Sons of Jubal” Band in 2012 playing Tenor sax. He was born in Youngstown, Ohio where he took his first saxophone lesson in age 11. At age 13 his family left Ohio and moved to Southern California. Saxophone lessons and school music continued as the family then moved to San Jose, Ca. During his school years he played in high school concert band, jazz ensembles and the pit orchestra for the school musicals. In 1964 Elliott was selected for all western states honor band in Long Beach. Music through school years was the main part of his life and friendships made are still maintained today.
After one year of college, music was interrupted by Air Force service during Vietnam, marriage and two children. After some 30 years, Elliott restarted his music by learning trumpet and playing in the Church Brass Quintet. From trumpet playing he went back to playing sax in the San Jose Metropolitan Band. Then studied under Noel Catrura where his playing matured to playing gigs in various swing bands, a Dixieland band and currently with Sons of Jubal band Big Band.
