Jeff Cherry

Jeff started playing trumpet in the third grade, but braces in middle school forced him to switch to the larger mouthpiece of the baritone horn and ultimately saxophone. Listening to Guido Fazio playing tenor with the Western Regional Championship Hayward High Jazz Band convinced Jeff to switch from alto to tenor saxophone which has been his focus ever since. Jeff ultimately played lead tenor in his high school band at the same time co-leading a successfully gigging 9 piece dance band. In college, Jeff studied jazz composition and performance for a year before pursuing academics that led to a law degree and successful legal career. While attending law school in Chicago, Jeff formed a regularly gigging jazz trio (vocals, sax and piano) and 8 piece dance band. Jeff annoys his neighbors practicing his pentatonic scale patterns in Redwood City where he lives with his wife and three children.
